Wine + Music = Best Decision Ever

I am of the belief that many of the best decisions I've ever made were made in a very short amount of time. I think this is one of them: I just bought tickets to Bottle Rock Napa Valley!

I'm pretty much dying for a vacation and Napa Valley is one of my favorite places, so attending this festival just made complete sense to me. The Sasquatch music festival has been such a topic of conversation lately among my friends who hope to go as well as those of us who have gone before. The lineup was tempting, but the thought of spending 4 days in the desert with a heavy crowd of drunk teenagers... not so much.

So, when my friend Nikki mentioned this, I was ready to hit the road! Too bad I have to wait until May because I'm ready to go now. Can't wait to drink wine, lounge on a lawn with my t-shirt quilt and listen to some awesome music. Most excited to see these guys:

This is Don:

He is my friend and one of the owners of the super cool local music store called Rosevear's. I was really excited to see that they launched their new website today AND a blog! I've been waiting years (seriously) for these guys to start putting out some content on the web because I think they are hilarious and just good people. You should read these words from Don about music, because he is a very wise man.

Lemolo Album Release Show at Columbia City Theater

Dare I say, Lemolo might be my favorite band ever. Honestly, their music is so intense and interesting to listen to. Also, they have fog machines and glitter at their concerts so obviously they are pretty cool.

I went to their Album Release show at The Columbia City Theater on Friday. It was crazy hot and muggy in there.

Kaylee Cole was first up. She did a great cover of Kanye West's Runaway (keep in mind this is just a solo singer and a grand piano). Next up was Lost Lander from Portland - they are so so great and the crowd seemed to be enjoying the tunes.

Lemolo put on a great first headlining show. I find something very intense about their performances and it's amazing how much sound can come out of just two people.

When it came down to the last song of their encore, glitter started falling from above. We quickly realized we were right in the target zone for the glitter dumping. The core group of about 6 people directly under the fan gathered up about 80% of the glitter. I'm still finding pieces in my hair.

This Weekend

I'm heading to Seattle today to see my friends and that crazy new ferris wheel and to eat cupcakes, etc., etc... but more importantly I get to see Lemolo tonight!!

Bonus: This will be my first time at The Columbia City Theater. It's about time.

Pirate Radio

I found a movie that combines many of my favorite things: rock music, the 1960's, boats, rebels, and random dance parties. Pirate Radio is a british comedy about a station, Radio Rock, which battles the government in order to play the music they love. It is full of great music and I also love the cinematography. I also liked feeling like I was on a boat with these guys.
Since I was so impressed with the visuals, I thought I would throw some up here.

Cheese, it's good

On Sunday, I hit up the Pike Place Cheese Festival for the second year in a row. I'm not sure if it's the cheese, the sun, the wine (or the friendly people drinking wine) or maybe a combination, but what a great event! It turned into quite the full day, ending with a concert at Neumo's.

Along the way we stopped by the brand new Seattle Hard Rock Cafe. Now, I would never actually go there for dinner but I heard they had a nice roof top bar (very uncommon in Seattle) so we had to check it out. It was super loungy - all couches and fire pits. The fire was very hot so eventually we had to move away and stand near the wall. I wasn't complaining though (except for the part where I did complain to the bartender... in a friendly way of course), the view is lovely up there! The bartender was friendly and so were all of the people hanging out. If you're ready to pay $6 for a beer and listen to the top 40 hits of the 90's, then I recommend it.

We made it to Neumo's for Frightened Rabbit with openers Maps & Atlases. Both very good bands. And I highly approve of their choice to play Fleetwood Mac between shows.

It really has been a while since I've been "out on the town" so it was a fun excursion. I'm more than ready for summer to come along so there can be more adventures.
